My current Personal Best. 15 hours of work, I think. 28cm x 38cm inside the mat. Black card outline cut out, with blue or gold card and Japanese paper. The shoe, necklace and earring are detailed with diamontes.

If anybody wants to bid on this one, they have to outbid my mother, who at the moment is winning by virtue of asking for it, and, you know, raising me. But if you think you can outdo that, or you want to commission something… ask me!

Journey home from Conflux 2009 in Canberra:

Missed $300 flight.

Booked new flight.

Cancelled airport flyer bus connection. Refunded $45.

Bawled eyes out. Settled down.

Driven to airport by Katie, with Marc McBride.

Met Ian Nichols and several other con guests at sign-in.

New flight delayed.

Flight.

Arrived at Brisbane airport.

Took taxi to nearest train station.

Took train to Oxley station.

Took taxi to Katie’s house.

Had insomnia.

Slept through alarm.

Katie’s sister was nice and drove me with nary a minute to spare to Oxley Station.

I had no money, no breakfast, and no available amenities.

I got on train after phoning through that I would pay in Ipswich.

After maybe an hour, I got off the train in Ipswich, because there are works on the railway line from Ipswich to Rosewood (the nearest station to my town).

Got upstairs to exit of station as connecting bus to my town roared away.

Paid for train journey.

Rang Katie’s mum.

Caught a $30 taxi to some servo on the highway closer to my town.

Burst into tears at servo. Bought veggie chips, coffee, three apples and an energy drink on credit.

Picked up by Katie’s mum.

Driven to my town.

Got ready for work.

Went to work.

Did not cry at work. Just.

Nobody asked me about my holidays.

The photos are all up, and so is the travel journal!

Also up are my sketches from Continuum 5: Galaxies by Gaslight, in Melbourne.

This week’s IIlustration Friday topic is ‘cracked’. My (only finished) painting in Corel, using my new Wacom tablet… this thing is awesome! This is my third attempt to do art using this equipment.

Dusk, originally uploaded by Princess Crazyhair.

My second submission for the Illustration Friday Topic ‘Fleeting’.

An older drawing, submitted now because I’m on holidays away from my scanner!

I have an old story idea still percolating about strange personified ideas. One of the characters – probably minor – is Dusk. One of the main characters, I know, is her sister Dawn. But after that the family tree gets complicated and I can’t decide their parentage. I know Lady Night is their mother, but I could go with Lord Day as their father or – cooler, I think – with The Lord of the Verges. He has charge of beginnings and endings, and the division between things. Things will get fun in the story if I can turn the main character into someone interesting, so we can hurry up and go *meet* people like the Heartbreaker. Sigh. One day!
